Methuen Household Hazardous Waste Day & Transfer Station Services


On Saturday, October 28, 2017, the City is sponsoring a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) event at the Methuen Transfer Station located on Huntington Avenue.  The event is open to Methuen residents from 8:00AM until 12:00 Noon.  No commercial/contractor waste will be accepted, proof of residency is required and residents do not need to have a Transfer Station annual sticker to participate.

Please note that to help ensure public safety at the HHW event, no construction & demolition debris or household trash will be accepted at the Transfer Station on Saturday Oct. 28th.  All other regular services, such as composting (grass & leaves), brush, and single stream recycling, will be available to residents.

This is a highly regulated and costly service being conducted by a fully licensed vendor, Stericycle.  The improper disposal of HHW can lead to water and air pollution, can cause health and safety problems for personnel such as firefighters and can add un-necessary municipal costs.  Additional information about what items are accepted, along with the allowable limit, at the HHW event will be available at or by calling the Department of Public Works at 978 983-8545.
