The City of Methuen will conduct its annual Flag Retirement Ceremony at Noon on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the Veterans Lot in Elmwood Cemetery. This date has been selected to commemorate the events at Pearl Harbor Naval Station, Hawaii on December 7, 1941, which led the United States into World War II. The brief and dignified ceremony will include presentation of the colors by the Methuen Police Department Color Guard, remarks by invited guests and conclude with the burning of unserviceable Flags, which is the prescribed method of disposal by United States code. The ceremony is open to the public, who may bring any unserviceable Flag with them for disposal. Please contact the Veterans Office at 978-983-8585 for information.
