The Methuen Board of Assessors met on November 25, 2008. The following are meeting minutes.
MINUTES OF METHUEN BOARD OF ASSESSORS HELD November 25, 2008 ROOM 103 AT 8:30 AM The meeting was called to order by interim chairperson Arthur Fyfe at 8:30 am. A roll call was taken with the following members being present: Dennis Dizoglio, Arthur Hutton and Arthur Fyfe. Also present was City of Methuen Assessor, John J. Cena. Thomas Hoye had notified the board of his absence due to a Tuesday morning meeting conflict. Member Hutton asked that the board observe a moment of silence for former Chairperson Donald Gallant who recently passed away. So, moved and voted. The board observed a moment of silence in remembrance of a truly dedicated member of the board who will be truly missed. The board then opened with a motion from member Dizoglio for approval of minutes of the previous meeting. Motion seconded by member Hutton. All in favor, motion carried. The board then voted to approve all exemptions presented. The motion to approve was made by member Hutton, seconded by member Dizoglio. All in favor, motion carried. The assessor requested the board approve settlement for a pending ATB case for a resident on, 9 Blueberry Lane, which resulted in an abatement of: $197.82. The assessor explained that the withdrawal had been signed and faxed to the ATB notifying them of settlement. Motion to approve was made by member Hutton with a second by member Dizoglio. All in favor, motion carried. The board was then advised of the current status of the preliminary certification and the next steps as required by the DOR to obtain final certification so that we may proceed to Classification to set the tax rate. The board also signed the new LA-4 and reviewed the Page 2BOA meeting 11/25/08 LA 10 indicating the changes that had been made due to public disclosure. They also signed and committed the latest excise commitment and the two sewer betterment commitments. Having no further business to come before the board a motion was made by member Hutton to adjourn. Motion seconded by member Dizoglio. The board adjourned at 8:50 am.
