City Clerk

Mission Statement

The City Clerk is the City's chief election officer and head of the City's Department of Records, which includes City archives and vital records, and custodian of the city seal. The City Clerk administers the oath of office to City officials and performs all the duties of a municipal clerk as authorized under Massachusetts General Laws. Methuen residents can transact routine City Clerk business in our Customer Service Center located in the Searles Building or by using the online payment system. Please note that cash payments are no longer accepted. 

NOTICE: The City of Methuen will not be having a Preliminary Election on September 12, 2023. The General Election is on November 7, 2023.

  • Payments must be made by check or credit/debit card.
  • Credit/Debit card issuers may charge users an additional fee for credit/debit payments.

If you are interested in becoming an election worker, please email City Clerk or call City Clerk Anne Drouin at 978-983-8515. To qualify, you must be a registered voter in Massachusetts.
