MFD Responds to Emergency Residential Fire Calls


April 28, 2020 - In addition to battling COVID-19, the Methuen Fire Department has responded to numerous fire calls in the past few weeks. On March 8, Methuen firefighters and police responded to a call for a working fire at 80 Howe St. There were no reported injuries in the blaze, and our firefighters safely rescued the family pets. Nine days later, our Department received a 911 call for a fire at 250 Hampstead Street. Our firefighters responded quickly and knocked down the fire effectively with no injuries reported. On March 26, Methuen Firefighters responded to a solar panel roof fire at 17 Birch Hill Drive. The residents of the home and their pets were all safe. Lieutenant Bob Scarelli and company extinguished the fire expertly. Engines one, two, and six responded to the fire. On April 17, the Methuen Fire Department responded to an emergency call at 81 Ashland Avenue. Our crews knocked down an electrical fire that started on the top floor of a three family residence. The building was evacuated and no injuries were reported in the fire. We also provided mutual aid to a 6000 square foot residential fire at 84 Castlemere Place in North Andover.
