Household Hazardous Waste Day
Thanks to everyone who made our June 12, 2021 Household Hazardous Waste Day a great success! We shall be doing another HHW Day in 2022. Until then, please read the following notice regarding reciprocal Hazardous Waste Day sites in which Methuen residents can participate!
METHUEN PARTICIPATING IN DEP NORTHEAST REGION HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE RECIPROCAL COLLECTION EVENTS: To make 2021 Household Hazardous Waste collection even more convenient, The City of Methuen is participating in a reciprocal arrangement with 18 other cities and towns in the DEP North East District region. For Methuen residents, that means if for some reason you can’t make the Methuen June 12 collection, you can bring your hazardous household items to collection events set up in any participating community listed and scheduled throughout the year. WHAT IS ACCEPTED AT THE ANNUAL METHUEN HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE DAY:
HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE ONLY: Poisons and Pesticides; Herbicides and Fertilizers; Kerosene and Other Waste Fuels; Oil Based Paints, (no Latex Paint); Oven, Toilet Bowl and Drain Cleaners; Paint Strippers, Turpentine and Solvents; Swimming Pool Chemicals; Photographic Chemicals; Antifreeze and Motor Oil- non returnable containers only; Car batteries and Mercury containing products (fluorescent tubes, thermometers, etc.); fertilizer.
20 LB PROPANE TANKS ONLY $ 5.00 FEE, CHECK ONLY.
MOTOR OIL LIMITED TO 12 QUARTS PER CAR -LOAD.
WHAT IS NOT ACCEPTED:
Latex Paint; Smoke Detectors; Explosives; Ammunition; Fireworks; Radioactive Waste; Biohazardous Waste; Pathological Waste; Gas Cylinders; Tires, Sealed Lead Acid Batteries, Commercial or Industrial Wastes.
