CURBSIDE TRASH/SINGLE - STREAM RECYCLING - LEAF & YARD WASTE PICK-UP

CURBSIDE TRASH

  • Curbside Trash Barrels must be 50 gallons or less.
  • Trash receptacles shall be placed at the curb NO EARLIER THAN 4:00 PM THE DAY BEFORE, the scheduled collection day. Residents are not allowed to leave trash receptacles curbside for more than (48) hours after scheduled pick-up.Trash receptacles shall not be stored in front of the property or at the street line.

SINGLE STREAM – RECYCLING

  • Recycling is the process of recovering scrap or waste and reprocessing the material into useful products. Glass, paper, plastic, and metals, such as food and beverage cans, are all commonly recycledPlastic bottles, food and beverage cans and glass need to be rinsed-out and placed loose in your recycle bin not in plastic bags.  Please refer to Recycle Smart Guide link below for complete listing of recyclable materials.

         PIZZA BOXES CANNOT BE RECYCLED. The processing facility is rejecting pizza boxes. Please dispose of your pizza boxes in your regular trash collection. 

The General Rule on any Recycling Item is: “When in Doubt - Throw it out."

LEAF/YARD WASTE PICK-UP:

  • This program is based upon your A or B week, every other week and runs for 16 weeks:Spring (8) weeks and Fall (8) weeks. If a Holiday falls during the week, a Saturday pick-up will be needed.Brush/Branches are to be tied in bundles of no more than four (4) feet in length and four (4) inches in diameter. NO PLASTIC BAGS

Methuen Transfer Station/Landfill, 50 Huntington Avenue, Methuen, MA 01844, Telephone: 978-983-8892, Hours of operation Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 1:45 pm/Saturday 8:00 am – 11:45 am.  The Transfer Station is open to All Methuen Residents  for disposal of Construction Debris/Recycling/Trash and White Goods, i.e. appliances, refrigerators, T.V’s etc., with proper identification of residence and applicable fees.
