   The 2026 Rene & Elaine Morissette Memorial Scholarship

   The Methuen Senior Activity Center Board of Trustees is pleased to announce two (2) one-time annual scholarships of $2,500 to honor the memory of Rene & Elaine Morissette. The Morissettes were very active in the Methuen community serving the senior population. They led a group of dedicated residents of Methuen to build the Methuen Senior Activity Center in 1984 through volunteerism, donations, and fundraising. They were involved in their church through leadership and music along with the drum and bugle corp.

   To be eligible the students must meet the following requirements:

   1. Applicant must be a Methuen resident.
   2. Applicant must be a graduating high school senior.
   3. Applicant must be attending a two- or four-year accredited post-secondary degree-granting institution.
      
      Graduates of the technical high schools (Greater Lawrence Technical School and Whittier Technical School) must provide documentation from their pathway coordinators to verify the applicant's intentions to pursue post-graduate career or academic advancement in their technical field/vocational area in order for the scholarship to be issued.
   4. Applicant must have volunteer service to organizations important to the Morissettes.
   5. Applicant must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) minimum of 2.33 out of 4.00. Note: An unofficial transcript may be required at a later date.
   6. Ideal candidates will demonstrate volunteer service to an aging population

   Submission Instructions:  Applications must be submitted  by 4/17/2026. Post-secondary registration verification will be required before payment will be made to the student.
