Board of Assessors
The Board of Assessors is responsible for the valuation of all real and personal property in the City, setting of the tax rate, motor vehicle excise, abatements and appeals, and statutory exemptions.

Board of Health
The Board of Health is responsible for providing policy direction in public health matters, approval of certain licensed professions, and acting as a hearing forum for various appeals to actions taken by the Health Department.

Commission on Disability
Our mission is to ensure that the City of Methuen provides accessible services to those who live in or visit our community. We work with the ADA Coordinator to ensure public accommodations are accessible to all. The Methuen Commission on Disability serves as an advisor to the City on issues relating to citizens with disabilities.

Community Development Board
The Community Development Board's primary jurisdiction is defined in M.G.L. Chapter 40A and 41. Generally, Chapter 40A relates to zoning and Chapter 41 relates to the subdivision of land.

Registrars of Voters
The Board of Registrars of Voters is made up of three members appointed by the Mayor and the City Clerk. This Board has an annual meeting in the spring, in which it appoints “assistant registrars” to assist with such duties as registering citizens to vote and certifying signatures on nomination papers and petitions, and processing the Annual City Census returns for preparation of the Annual Register of Voters and publication of the annual Street Listing Book.

Zoning Board
The Zoning Board of Appeals hears applications for Variances from the Methuen Zoning Code (Ordinance), Special Permit requests where the Zoning Code designates the ZBA as the Special Permit Granting Authority, and appeals of decisions by the Building Commissioner. All requests are subject to the requirements enumerated in the Methuen Zoning Code.
