Clothing/Textile Collection

Under MassDEP waste ban regulations, textile materials are not allowed to be disposed of at landfills and incinerators. Methuen residents are encouraged to deposit old clothing & textiles at any of the donation boxes located throughout the City including at Methuen public schools and at Methuen transfer station.

To keep textiles out of the trash and make donating these materials more convenient for Methuenites,  the City has partnered with the non-profit PlanetAid Inc. to set up a system of  curbside collection for textile materials including clothing, linens, towels, curtains, bedding and footwear.  Regular collections are the first and third Saturdays of every month.   Materials should be placed curbside in plastic bags (to keep items from getting wet) by 8 A.M. on the scheduled pickup day.

Residents must schedule pickup at least 48 hours in advance by calling 508.893.0644 or going online to the PlanetAid website scheduler at https://www.planetaid.org/lp-home-donation-pickup and entering contact info and pickup address.
